Steve and I did the weekly shop at Tesco's. That was a culture shock in itself. So much food. Things I didn't remember! I embarrassed myself in the crisps section (we do love our crisps - so exciting!) when I stood and cooed "Ooooh, square crisps" rather loudly. When I noticed the odd looks of those closest to me I realised what I had done.
I had a frustrating time looking for coconut milk and fish sauce. I know I need to go to a specialist store in the future, really. There was one bottle of fish sauce - and I fervently wished I had brought some with me as it is soooooooo much cheaper in Manila. There was also only one brand of coconut milk - again so expensive I will not be cooking with it much this year unless I find another supplier.
